Colin Giles
Executive Vice President, Sales, Nokia

As the EVP of Nokia, Colin heads the global sales operations for all Nokia products and services. He was appointed to his position in January 2010, and named to the Nokia Leadership Team in February 2011. He reports to the executive vice president, Markets.

Colin began his Nokia career in 1992 as a product manager in his native Australia. He was promoted through a range of sales and marketing positions, including director of marketing in Asia Pacific, general manager of Nokia Taiwan and vice president and general manager for the Mobile Phones unit in China.

Before his appointment to head of the global Sales unit, Colin was president and senior vice president for Greater China, Japan and Korea. He spent 15 years working in the Asia Pacific region.
Before joining Nokia, Colin worked in several telecommunications companies in Australia and the United Kingdom.

He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Western Australia, and he attended the EMBA program at the London Business School.

Gregory Wade
Regional Managing Director, Asia Pacific (Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia), Research In Motion

As Regional Managing Director for Asia Pacific (Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia) at Research In Motion (RIM), Mr. Gregory Wade is responsible for driving the success of BlackBerry® smartphones and solutions in the region and is focused on managing relationships with strategic partners and carriers offering the BlackBerry solution.

Based in Singapore, Mr. Wade has developed RIM's business in the region by establishing BlackBerry in new countries throughout the region and growing the popularity of BlackBerry with the growing number of customers in the region. Mr. Wade's contribution to the business environment in Singapore is also extended through his participation as a member of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore.

Jonathan Dharmapalan
Partner, Global Telecommunications Leader, Ernst & Young

Jonathan Dharmapalan is the Global Deputy Telecommunications Leader.

Until recently, Jonathan led Ernst & Young's Global Telecommunications Center in Beijing. He has led engagements for clients across the Asia Pacific region, advising clients on growth strategies, operational excellence and regulatory issues.

In his 25 year career Jonathan has served some of the largest companies in the telecommunications sector.He has significant experience in both mobile and terrestrial communications.He has served his clients from the early days of divestiture and privatization through the years of unprecedented growth of wireless and broadband technologies. Jonathan also has significant experience in the related sectors of High Tech and Media.

Phil Mottram
Executive Director, Telstra International

Phil Mottram is Executive Director of Global Sales for Telstra International Group based in Hong Kong. With nearly 20 years experience in the telecommunications industry, he is responsible for overseeing and driving the company's entire managed services and connectivity portfolio.

Prior to joining Telstra International, Phil was the Director of Sales for British Telecom's Openreach having been with the company in various senior executive sales positions over the past nine years.

Phil also held the role of European Sales Director for Sprint and spent seven years working in sales for AT&T.

Tore Johnsen
Chief Executive Officer, Grameenphone Ltd.

Mr. Tore Johnsen is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Grameenphone Ltd. Joining the Telenor Group in 1974, Mr. Johnsen has since become one of the Telenor Group's preeminent leaders and mobile telecommunications experts in Asia. He is the first CEO within the Telenor Group to have headed four of the company's five operations in Asia, including Total Access Communications Public Co. Ltd. (Dtac) in Thailand from 2008-2011, Telenor Pakistan from 2004-2008, and Digi Telecommunications in Malaysia from 2001-2004.

His appointment as CEO of Grameenphone, the largest telecommunications operator in Bangladesh, further strengthens his extensive leadership credentials in the region.

Joseph O'Konek
Chief Executive Officer, CSL Limited

Joseph O'Konek is the Chief Executive Officer of CSL Limited, the leading mobile operator in Hong Kong. He was previously Executive Vice President of 3S Network, Inc., a privately held wireless engineering firm based in Bellevue, WA. Prior to joining CSL, he led the prepaid and convergence billing software product line for Nokia Siemens Networks in Munich, Germany as Global Head of Business Support Systems and served as Global Practice Head for the Network Design and Service Management & Performance Consulting Practices for Nokia in 2005 in Espoo, Finland.

Alexander Jeuck
Vice President Sales Asia/Pacific, ND SatCom

Alexander Jeuck holds an MBA in International Business Management and Dipl. Ing. (FH) degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Applied Science Ravensburg-Weingarten in Germany. Since 2010 he is responsible for ND SatCom as VP Sales Asia Pacific for the business and partner development in India, South East Asia and Oceanic Region. Prior he was instrumental for ND SatCom as President Middle East, in charge of regional business & operations expansion. Until 2002 he held various managing positions at Nortel Networks Germany delivering International Optical Network solutions in Europe.

1997 - 1998 he was member in the DSNG ad-hoc group of the DVB Project to support the standardization for contribution applications by satellite. His industrial experience started 1987 with Dornier GmbH, a German company producing aircraft, defense materiel and space systems.

Anver Anderson
Vice President, Asia, Newtec Asia Pacific Pte Ltd

With over 25 years' experience in the satellite communications industry, Anver Anderson has recently joined Newtec as VP Asia, managing Newtec's Singapore and Beijing offices.  In 2003 he set up a full service solutions consultancy business for the broadcast and satellite industry - with clients including ITN, Al Jazeera, APTN, GLG, Babcock International, Ovum and Advent Communications (Vislink Group).

Previously, he worked for satellite operators Inmarsat and Europe*Star as well as service providers Vyvx, VT Merlin Communications and British Telecom and has extensive experience in business development and product marketing across many aspects of the industry.

Amiram Levinberg
Chairman of the Board & Chief Executive Officer, Gilat Satellite Networks

Amiram Levinberg is a co-founder of Gilat and returned to the Company in 2005 as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Levinberg previously held positions as Gilat's President, Chief Operations Officer and Vice President of Engineering. Mr. Levinberg served in a research and development unit of the Israeli Defense Force (1977-1987) and was awarded the Israel Defense Award in 1988. Mr. Levinberg holds a MSc. in Digital Communications and a BSc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technion Institute of Technology, Haifa. Mr. Levinberg also serves on the Boards of Cardboard Industries and Kargal, a cardboard manufacturer in Israel, and Kasamba, an internet company offering online expert professional advice.

Christian Bergan
Director of Vertical Marketing, iDirect

With a background in both the satellite and energy industries, Christian Bergan is responsible for the market strategy and works closely with iDirect's global network of service providers to promote the value of VSAT technology throughout the industry.

Prior to joining iDirect, Bergan was a director, sales and marketing, with TSAT providing satellite communications solutions to the energy and utility industries. He spent 20 years with IC Bergan where he was the vice president, sales and marketing.

Bergan holds a Bachelors degree from Oslo Engineering College in manufacturing engineering and a Masters degree in management from Troy University.

Chris D'Aguiar
Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Inmarsat

Chris D'Aguiar is Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Inmarsat, and is responsible for market development and raising market awareness of the company's world-class capabilities and comprehensive product portfolio. Mr D'Aguiar also oversees the distribution of Inmarsat's mobile satellite services through a network of over 400 partners around the world.

Since joining Inmarsat in 1996, Mr D'Aguiar has directed Inmarsat's sales, channel management and regional business development teams. Latterly he led Inmarsat's distribution development programme and the Global Satellite Phone Service commercial team.

Prior to joining Inmarsat, Mr D'Aguiar undertook a variety of business development, commercial and financial management roles within Marconi, GPT (a telecoms joint venture between GEC and Siemens), and Fibreway (an optical broadband network, now part of Easynet).

Daniel Enns
Senior Vice President, Strategic Marketing & Business Development, Comtech EF Data

Daniel Enns is senior vice president strategic marketing & business development for Comtech EF Data. Focusing on strategic activities, Enns initiates development & orchestrates partnerships. He is considered a pioneer in IP networking via satellite. His tenure includes various executive positions.

Prior to joining Comtech EF Data, Enns was General Manager/Founder of Crown Satellite LLC, guiding product and business development on the SpectraCast® products. Under his leadership, Crown Satellite was acquired by Adaptive Broadband (formerly California Microwave/EF Data). Enns also held the position of engineering director for World Radio Missionary Fellowship. He holds a BSEE from the University of Manitoba.

David Hartshorn
Secretary General, GVF

David Hartshorn is Secretary General of GVF, the London-based non-profit international association of the satellite communications industry. GVF consists of more than 200 member organisations from every major region of the world and from every sector of the industry, including mobile and fixed operators, manufacturers, system integrators, and other turn-key service providers. 

Supported by 15 affiliate offices, two regional offices and seven working groups, Mr. Hartshorn leads the Forum's global efforts to facilitate the provision of satellite-based communications solutions throughout all nations of the world.

Mr. Hartshorn works closely to support national-, regional- and global-level policy makers as they formulate state-of-the-art satellite regulatory frameworks. He is also responsible for creating greater awareness of the commercial, economic, political and technological advantages that communications provide for the world. GVF's Certification, product quality assurance and network-validation programmes are an important means by which these aims are achieved.

Mr. Hartshorn has worked in the communications industry for 20 years, serving in business development, sales, publishing, and association offices based in North and Southeast Asia, North America and Western Europe. He is a Member of numerous communications-sector bodies, including the UN Working Group for Emergency Telecommunications, and others.      

Deepak Mathur
Vice President Of Sales, South Asia And The Middle East, SES World Skies

Mr. Deepak Mathur is the Vice President for SES WORLD SKIES for the South Asia and the Middle East, responsible for the region's Sales and Market Development activities. He has been with SES for the past 10 years, originally joining the organization with General Electric. Mr. Mathur has in the past held leadership roles with Echostar, NagraVision and Loral.

He is based in Singapore and married with two daughters.

Ermady Dahlan
Director of Network and Solution, Pt Telekomunikas Indonesa Tbk

Ermady joined TELKOM in 1973 and lead the business unit of East Java regional division as deputy head of division from 1998-2001.  He was the head of division of Sumatra region from 2001-2003.  In 2003-2005, he was the head of Enterprise Service Center as the division which served Enterprises and government customers. He was also the head of Jakarta Region from 2005-2007.

Since 2007, he has been a member of the Board of Directors, from 2007-2008 as consumers' director and now as director of network and solution and also as Chief Operating Officer (COO).

He was also president commissioner of PT.INDONUSA TELEMEDIA (a pay TV Company) from 2007-2008, president commissioner of PT.TELKOM INTERNASIONAL INDONESIA from 2008-2010. Currently he is a member of board commissioner of PT.TELEKOMUNIKASI SELULAR (TELKOMSEL).

Glen Tindall
Vice President, Sales, Asia-Pacific, SES World Skies

Over the past 20 years Glen has enjoyed a multiplicity of roles in sales, marketing, product development, engineering, and business development throughout Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific regions.

The majority of this time has been spent on customer-focused activities within the energy, telecommunications, media, and technology sectors.

A clear strategic thinker, Glen aims to develop and deliver business solutions which satisfy key commercial objectives through close engagement with customers and other stakeholders.

Glen is currently Vice President of Sales for SES World Skies where his primary focus is driving sales revenue for satellite services within the Asia-Pacific region.

Gregg Daffner
CEO, G3 Global Communications

Gregg Daffner is CEO of GapSat which provides satellite operators with in-orbit 'gap-filler' satellites for an interim period. Gregg is also president of G3 Global Communications a satellite venture incubation and consulting firm focused on strategic planning, business development, transactional and regulatory advice for the Asia-Pacific satellite market.

Previously Gregg co-founded and was president of Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS). He is a former television producer and communications attorney who was the head of satellite services for Hong Kong Telecom, Vice President for PanAmSat and Lockheed Martin Corp, and Director of International Policy for the US Department of Commerce, National Telecommunications & Information Administration where he was instrumental in the promotion of private enterprise in space.

Gregg is a member of the Board of PTC, the Council of Governors of CASBAA as well as Chair of their Wireless Action Group, VP for APSCC and Asian Attache for GVF.

Kevin French
Publisher, talk Satellite

Kevin is Publisher of talk Satellite, a leading business information source for the satellite industry.

Graduating in 1984 with a honours degree in Media, Kevin began his Asian Technology experience with the publication Products and Services to China. Prior to talk Satellite he played a leading role in the development of publications such as Asian Communications, Asia Pacific Satellite, The APT Yearbook, and The Euronet. Through his work with TelecomTV Kevin gained a wealth of experience in rich media projects.

Tom Van Der Heyden
CEO, Sky Fiber Corporation

Tom van der Heyden, CEO/Director of Sky Fiber, is a digital broadcast and satellite communications industry pioneer, with 35 years building satellite systems and companies globally. Tom created Indonesia's DBS program Indovision, from concept through turn-key launch and operation, co-authored the first DAB FCC filing, led the use of L, S and X bands in Asia, co-founded CTAI (Orbital Sciences GEO division), built the first voice and data networks in China and Taiwan, and Indonesia's wideband TDMA networks. An author on emerging market satellite applications, Tom holds patents in spacecraft design, and both engineering and business degrees.

Martin Coleman
Executive Director, Satellite IRG

Martin Coleman started Colem as an engineering services consultancy. Using his previous experience he developed his own network management system products for Corporate, SNG/Flyaway and Wireless Cameras including Automation, Intelligent Device Configuration and Media Management. Martin has worked with companies including BSkyB, NOAA and Reuters.

Martin's work, through the satellite Interference Reduction Group (sIRG) has produced a specification for Video Carrier ID, issued by WBU-ISOG. He is now the executive director of sIRG.

Prior to Colem, Martin was an engineer in charge of BT satellite projects for Madley & Goonhilly earth stations. His background is both satellite and international telecommunications.

 

Patompob (Nile) Suwansiri

Nile Suwansiri is the Vice President of Marketing & Sales - Southeast Asian Region of THAICOM Public Company Limited and has over 19 years of experience in the satellite industry.

Nile has been with THAICOM since its inception in 1992. He previously held positions of Satellite Engineering Manager, Satellite Control Manager and Head of Marketing.

Presently, his responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of the IPSTAR broadband businesses in Indonesia, Malaysia and The Philippines.

Nile holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand and an Executive MBA degree from SASIN Graduate School of Management in Bangkok in collaboration with the Kellogg and Wharton Schools of Management.

Patrick French
Senior Analyst & Head, NSR, LLC

Mr. French joined NSR in September 2003 and has since authored numerous studies, the most recent being the Global Assessment of Satellite Demand, 7th. Edition and Broadband Satellite Markets 10th. Edition. His focus is commercial satellite supply and demand modeling, video services, DTH, enterprise broadband and narrowband VSAT networks, and satellite broadband access services. He also leads NSR's analysis of multi-spot beam high throughput satellites (HTS) for consumer-class satellite broadband access and numerous additional markets. Mr. French is based in Singapore.

Ramesh Ramaswamy
Assistant Vice President, International, Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES)

Ramesh Ramaswamy is assistant vice president of Marketing in the International Division at Hughes Network Systems, LLC (Hughes).  In this capacity he is responsible for the strategic development of products and services to be offered by Hughes in the international market.

Mr. Ramaswamy began his career at Hughes in 1986 as a software engineer and was one of the original designers of the VSAT (very small aperture terminal) satellite product line. Prior to his current position, Mr. Ramaswamy was assistant vice president and general manager of the Asia/Pacific region, responsible for business development and profit and loss for the region. Previously, he was responsible for business development in the Middle East/Africa region and before that, was responsible for program management including installation of and technical support to VSAT systems around the world.

Mr. Ramaswamy holds a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas, Arlington, Texas, USA and a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Madras in India.

Rick Abbasi
Senior Product Marketing Director, Network Services, Intelsat

Responsible for marketing Intelsat Network Service products in Asia Pacific. Technical Services Director and Senior Regional Marketing Director, Asia Pacific from 2005 to 2009.

Global Manager, Satellite Services, REACH with overall responsibility for satellite product management and business development until 2004. Following a similar role in Telstra Global Wholesale for the management of satellite related investments, business development, commercial arrangements and regulatory affairs.

Australian Signatory representative to Intelsat Board of Governors and Advisory Committees 1986 to 2001. Chairman of the Technical Committee 1991 to 1993 and the Australian Governor 1998 to 2001.

From 1980 to 1997 with OTC Australia and Telstra as a systems engineer, project manager and senior engineering manager responsible for spectrum management, technology development, design and implementation of satellite earth station facilities, VSAT networks and other telecommunications infrastructure in Asia Pacific.

Vivek Couto
Executive Director, Media Partners Asia, Ltd.

Vivek is an Executive Director and Co-Founder at Media Partners Asia (MPA). Vivek oversees all information services for MPA, including consulting and research. MPA is a leading independent provider of information services, focusing on media and communications in Asia Pacific. MPA serves various audiences and clients with multiple platforms.

MPA reports receive widespread coverage in global media and its research and consulting services are utilized by numerous industry-related groups, such as media and telecom owners, investors, technology companies, regulatory groups and the financial sector.

Vivek is a leading media and telecommunications analyst in the Asia Pacific region. He was formerly a Senior Analyst and Managing Editor at the Kagan group. He graduated from the London School of Economics & Political Science with BSc Economics degree and an MSc Economics degree.

Yau Chyong Lim
Senior Director, Sales & Marketing, MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd

Yau Chyong Lim is MEASAT's Senior Director of Sales and Marketing. He oversees the Sales and Marketing operations of the organization. Yau has more than 15 years experience in the satellite communication industry. He is well exposed in satellite engineering and operations as well as service sectors of DTH, broadcasting and telecommunications. Yau holds an MBA in Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Microelectronics & Physics.

Yutaka Nagai
President, APSCC

 

Yutaka Nagai is Senior Executive Vice President of SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation. He is also the Board Director of SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc, a parent company of SJ.

He started his carrier at Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Public Corporation in 1971 and was engaged in research and development work for satellite communications system. During his 40 years business carrier, his first involvement with satellite business was in 1986 when he joined Japan Communication Satellite Company Inc. Then he developed his carrier from satellite operation to satellite engineering, business planning and business development. Now, he shows a great leadership as top management of SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation.

He received a Bachelor of Engineering from Tokyo University.

Yvon Henri
Chief, Space Services Department, International Telecommunication Union

Yvon Henri is Chief of the Space Services Department (SSD) at the Radiocommunication Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in Geneva (Switzerland). Before joining ITU in 1995, he has held various management positions at France Telecom (Paris, France) and INTELSAT (Washington DC, USA) and has been involved in the satellite business for more than 25 years.

ITU is the leading United Nations agency for information and communication technology issues, and the global focal point for governments and the private sector in developing networks and services.

Buddhika Siddhisena
Chief Technology Officer, THINKCube Systems (Pvt.) Ltd.

As the Co-Founder and CTO of THINKCube Systems Pvt. Ltd., an organization that specializes in developing product solutions which add value to Telco operators offerings, Buddhika provides technical guidance and direction to leverage in existing proven technologies such as Open Source Software, Linux and Visualization. Buddhika has over 14 years of experience in IT, mainly in the areas of Free & Open Source Software, Systems Administration, E-Commerce and other Networking Technologies.

Prior to joining Thibkcube, Buddhika was working as a Technical Consultant at the R&D Lab of Virtusa, a leading global software development organization. During that time he was an influential figure in advocating the use of FOSS by engaging in several POC studies and Business Pursuits.
Buddhika has also been involved through the inception of several leading Open Source projects, such as Sahana Disaster Management System and Tarprobane GNU/Linux.

He holds a B.Sc in physical science from University of Colombo and PGD in Computer Science from BCS UK. He is a council member of BCS, Sri Lanka Section and an avid FOSS advocate within the Sri Lanka's FOSS community.

Jim Butler
Sr. Industry Director, Business Channels. Communications Sector, Asia, Microsoft Corporation

Jim Butler has been with Microsoft for 17 years with most of those years spent in the B2B business. He is currently based in Singapore as an Industry Director. He is responsible for supporting the sales and marketing efforts of Microsoft partners across Asia. Jim spends much of his time sharing best practices around solutions targeting small and medium sized businesses. From 2006 to 2009, Jim was the General Manager for Microsoft's Greater China Communications Sector, based in Beijing. Jim managed the sales division calling on the large telecommunications companies in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Jurrie van den Breekel
Director of Cloud Solutions, Spirent Communications

Jurrie van den Breekel is a Director of Cloud Solutions at Spirent Communications and serves as market segment lead for the company's Cloud, Enterprise and Data Center test solutions.
Previously he served as a technical marketing manager where he was responsible for the market development of Spirent's Networks and Applications division in the EMEA region. Jurrie has also held a variety of other positions at Spirent.

Prior to joining Spirent in 2000, he spent several years at the Dutch-based system integrator, TrueCom, as product manager for telecom test systems.

Markku has been in the telecom industry for 12 years and has held various technical and management positions at Nokia Siemens Networks, covering R&D, technical support and architecture. After pioneering Virtualization adoption in the telco space, Markku is now coordinating Nokia Siemens Networks' Cloud Computing architecture.

Mithila Mendis
Chief Operating Officer, THINKCube Systems (Pvt.) Ltd.

As the Chief Operating Officer of the company, Mithila is responsible for driving the Vision of the Company and directing the company operations. Mithila's initial career with Singapore Telecom International (STI) involved several assignments at subsidiary companies involving broadcasting, data services, fixed network operations etc. He also gained extensive experience in the Access Network technology space during his tenure as Regional Director – South Asia for Airspan Networks Inc ( a leading WIMAX / LTE solution provider).

Mithila holds a First Class, Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) degree from City University, London. He is also a member of the Institution of Engineering Technology (formally IEE) and IEEE. He is also a register chartered engineer (C.Eng.) of the Engineering council (UK)

Paul Stallard
Vice President, Systems Management, Ericsson

Paul Stallard is Head of Systems Management at Ericsson Solution Area TV. He joined the company in 1998 and previously held positions in Research, Engineering, Product Management and Solutions Architecture. As VP Systems Management he is responsible for coordinating the future direction of Ericsson's television portfolio. Per Dahlberg

In 2010 he co-founded the Asia Cloud Computing Association where he currently serves as Executive Director and CEO. Sean Bergin
Head of Global Telecom Markets, South East Asia, BT

With over 20 years in ICT at some of the world's leading telecom companies, Sean has worked across a variety of disciplines and technologies.  His experience covers international submarine cable systems, terrestrial network builds, and international and domestic wholesale and enterprise sales management, with a specific focus on the Asia Pacific region.

Before joining BT, Sean held a variety of management roles in enterprise and international wholesale at Telstra, among them head of sales, Asia Pacific for Australia Japan Cable, a supplier of international wholesale capacity to carriers across Asia and the US. Most recently, Sean's efforts where focused on a terrestrial network build on the islands of Sumatra and Java in Indonesia.

At BT, Sean is responsible for the management and growth of BT's South East Asia carrier business across disciplines including IPX, global inbound services, conferencing, global data connectivity and consulting services such as technology transformation and business process improvement.

Steve McWhirter
Senior Vice President, Enterprise Sales, Asia Pacific, Salesforce.com

Victor Keong

Abu Saeed Khan
Senior Policy Fellow, LIRNEasia

Abu joined the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) as its Secretary General on August 1, 2010.* Earlier he was a Strategy Analyst at Ericsson's Southeast Asia head office in Malaysia until June 2010. Previously, he was Technology Editor for bdnews24.com, Bangladesh's first online newspaper, as well as a research analyst at EMC World Cellular Database (currently owned by Informa) covering the mobile markets of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal.

As a journalist, Abu persuaded the government to join the SEA-ME-WE4 consortium in 2002, which has linked Bangladesh with its very first, and by far the only, submarine cable. At LIRNEasia, he conducted research into the replicability of a microfinance approach to extending rural connectivity in Bangladesh. He has also provided consultancy expertise in telecommunications to local and international organizations. He served on the faculty of regional regulatory training courses offered by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) between 2001 and 2004.

Peter Lovelock

Peter Lovelock is the Director of TRPC, the consulting and training arm of the Telecoms Research Project, an IT think-tank based out of Singapore, Hong Kong and Beijing. He has more than 25 years experience in telecoms, Internet and IT research, including regulatory assessments, implementation and execution projects, and due diligence and market entry strategic guidance projects throughout Asia.

 The TRPC provides in-depth research and consulting services to companies, as well as to institutions such as the World Bank, the ITU, UNDP and ESCAP, the European Commission in China, and for regulators in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam and India.

Mo Shakouri
Corporate VP Innovation, Alvarion

An industry visionary and well-known expert in the field, Mo serves on Alvarion's executive management team as Corporate Vice President for Innovation and Marketing. In addition, he serves in several prominent roles in the industry, such as Vice President of the WiMAX Forum and a member of the WiMAX Forum Board of Directors. Instrumental in growing WiMAX into a multi-billion dollar industry and having expanded the WiMAX Forum's global reach, Mo is considered to be the leading voice for the WiMAX industry. He co-founded the wireless systems division, where he was responsible for the engineering team developing low-cost residential digital wireless systems for U.S. and Asian markets.

Mo earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University on Sub picosecond GaAs Wafer Probe Systems.

Moya Dodd
Partner, Gilbert + Tobin Lawyers

Moya is a Partner in Gilbert + Tobin's Competition and Regulation group, specialising in telecommunications, online businesses and converging media. She has extensive experience providing legal and regulatory advice, and well as economic and business analysis.

Prior to joining Gilbert + Tobin, Moya was Vice President at leading economic consulting firm, CRA International. Before that, Moya spent several years in senior business and legal roles at Fairfax and Telstra, including as General Counsel and Company Secretary of Telstra Multimedia during the HFC rollout and establishment of FOXTEL.

Philip Heah
Senior Director, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA)

Mr Philip Heah joined Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) in November 2000 and is the Senior Director heading the Next Generation Infrastructure Group.

He is responsible for overseeing the deployment of a new super high speed wired broadband network, the Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network (Next Gen NBN). This new Next Gen NBN has been identified as a strategic infrastructure for Singapore to remain as a vibrant infocomm community for both businesses and consumers under its Intelligent Nation 2015 (iN2015) Masterplan. Under his leadership, the contractors responsible for the passive and active Next Gen NBN were awarded, and the deployment of the passive network has began, and on schedule. The group is now concentrating on engaging retail service providers, and end users, to create vibrancy and adoption of the Next Gen Services.

Among his notable achievements, Mr Philip heads IDA's Innovation and Wireless division. During his stint as its Director, key industry-wide wireless innovation initiatives were announced, including 'Pilot and Trial Hotspots' (PATH), 'Wireless Technology Alliance' (WTA) and 'Market Development' (MADE). Philip also successfully launched Calls for Collaborations (CFCs) that resulted in cross-industry partnerships in various programmes. The value of CFCs rests in pulling together different industry players within a value chain to provide a whole solution to users.

Prior to joining IDA, Philip Heah was Director of Technology at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Rhys Arkins
Director of Technical Sales, APAC, Acme Packet

Rohan Samarajiva

Rohan Samarajiva is founding Chair and CEO of LIRNEasia, an ICT policy and regulation think tank active across 11 emerging Asian economies.

Samarajiva was Team Leader at the Sri Lanka Ministry for Economic Reform, Science and Technology (2002-04) responsible for infrastructure reforms. He headed the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission in Sri Lanka as it was being established as a separate entity (1998-99), and advised the Royal Government of Bhutan on the establishment of the telecom regulatory body (2001-02). Most recently, Samarajiva was Policy Advisor to the Ministry of Post and Telecom in Bangladesh (2006-09).

Stewart White
MESA Head of Telecoms, KPMG

Stewart White is KPMG's Middle East & South Asia (MESA) Head of Telecoms since 2010.  He is involved in providing clients in the region with highly focused telecoms sector-specific advice to operators and investors from a regulatory, policy, public affairs and commercial perspective based on 30 years experience. He has experience working in more than 50 countries where he has also advised a number of governments on sector reform, drafting legislation to implement and establish regulatory authorities, drafting licences and interconnection agreements, particularly in the Middle East.

He has worked closely with a number of operators in the region and was one of the key players in Etisalat's successful bid and for and negotiation of the third mobile licence in Egypt. He has been one of the advisors of the Australian Government with regard to its $43bn next generation network project. From 1999 to 2005, he was the Group Public Policy Director of Vodafone Group, where he was described by its CEO, Sir Christopher Gent, as 'Vodafone's Foreign Minister', with responsibility for its public policy and affairs worldwide. He has had a long involvement with the International Telecommunication Union and has been an advisor to a number of Secretaries General, including Hamadoun Touré, particularly with regard to NGN and access issues and digital age issues, including IP interconnection. In June 2010 he was invited to be a keynote speaker at a closed Ministerial Roundtable hosted by the Singaporean regulator, iDA, on Government Strategies and Policies on providing ICT access to their Populace.

Tony Poulos
Market Strategist , TM Forum

Tony Poulos has been involved with software development and systems integration in travel and telecommunications for over 25 years. He developed a convergent billing system in the early nineties in Australia and from there he worked in a business development role with Unisys' Telecommunications Practice in Europe. He was co-founder of Copernicus Global Billing Services, a London based, web-enabled, managed service provider for outsourced billing and payments collection. He has worked in the areas of BSS, IT, revenue assurance, billing, payments, mobile internet access, mobile email and content delivery.

In addition to being a regular speaker and chairman at telco and finance conferences worldwide, he has been a Contributing Analyst for IDC, writes for a number of industry publications worldwide and is Anchor, for TelecomAsia's, Telecom Channel. Tony was an executive of the Global Billing Association for five years prior to its merger with the TM Forum. Until recently he headed up the Revenue Management Initiative of the TM Forum and conducts its training classes in billing and revenue management. His new role is one of BSS Strategist and Evangelist.

Vincent Michael Paul Boudville

Poon has been a market research professional for 12 years, and has been a regular speaker at numerous professional gatherings and industry events, including CommunicAsia and Cloud Computing Expo. Poon joined Tier1 Research in April of 2010, bringing expertise in cloud computing and enterprise network migration strategies. She is instrumental in the overall global consulting and research activities.
Prior to joining Tier1 Research, Poon was a senior analyst at Yankee Group for more than 10 years. Before Yankee, she worked as a research analyst in Frost & Sullivan's Telecommunications Service group. Poon holds a B.A. degree and an M.B.A. degree in international marketing from Ohio University.

Robert Parcell

Roger Carvosso
Head of Product Strategy & IP Services, Telstra International

 

Roger Carvosso has worked in the telecommunications industry for 25 years, 17 of which have been at Telstra Corporation, working on portfolio management, product development and marketing of the Telstra and BigPond Internet brands in Australia. He has also managed multi-national enterprise and global carrier segments for international data products, as well as business and partnership development for managed ICT services.

As the current Head of Product Strategy & IP Services at Telstra International, Roger shapes strategies for the company's network-centric Managed Services & Connectivity (MS&C) products and 'agile' IP networking services such as Application Assured Networking (AAN) and Content Delivery (CDN) services.  He also manages the Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) VPN, Global Internet, IP Transit and Managed Security portfolio of services for large-scale organisations.

Prior to Telstra, Roger worked for the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (OTC), where he led design and operational support for international satellite data,   video and managed router services. He also provided consultancy and bid design support for multinational customers.

Roger holds a Bachelor of Engineering, Electrical (Hons) degree from the University of Queensland and a Masters of Commerce – Finance/Marketing degree from the University of New South Wales. He is married with twins and lives in Sydney, Australia. 

Stephen Miles
Vice President, Service Assurance, Asia Pacific & Japan, CA Technologies

Stephen Miles is vice president of the Service Assurance business unit for the Asia Pacific and Japan region. Based in Singapore, Stephen is responsible for strategy development and growing the revenue of the Service Assurance portfolio across the region.  In this role, he ensures that the service assurance strategy for CA technologies is well executed to help customers optimize their business service performance across physical, virtual and cloud environments. In addition, Stephen drives the service assurance business for communication service providers (CSPs) for Asia Pacific and Japan, helping CSPs proactively manage and monitor all parts of their operations with CA Technologies service assurance solutions.

Stephen has more than 20 years of IT software and networking experience. He ran the regional business operations for leading networking and software management organizations including Bay Networks, Nortel and EMC in Asia Pacific. Prior to joining CA Technologies in 2009, Stephen was vice president of Sales for the Infrastructure Management Group at EMC, where he specialized in service assurance solutions for service providers and enterprises.

Senior Member of IEEE, Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc)

BhumipKhasnabish, PhD, is a Senior Member of IEEE and an emeritus Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc). He has been trying to pull the Cloud initiative off the ground in IETF, and a co‐chair of the Test and Interoperability committee of ATIS IPTV Interoperability Forum (IIF).

Currently Bhumip is a Director in the Standards Development and Industry Relations Division of ZTE USA, focusing on cross‐domain projects. Before that, he worked in Verizon Labs in Waltham, MA on specifying and prototyping VoIP, VoATM, MPEG video distribution, IPTV, and Converged Services NNI, and in BNR Ltd. in Ottawa, Canada, designing and implementing multi-service frame-cell switch.

KDr. Khasnabish has authored numerous patents, books, and articles in a variety of areas related to converged services and new generation networking. His recent contribution "Next Generation Technologies, Networks, and Services," appeared as a chapter in the book "Next Generation Telecommunications Networks, Services, and Management," (Wiley-IEEE Press, April 2010). His recent book "Implementing Voice over IP" is currently in second printing. Previously he edited/co‐edited a Book on "Multimedia Communications Networks: Technologies and Services," and many Special Issues of IEEE Network, IEEE Wireless Communications, IEEE Communications Magazines, and the Journal of Network and Systems Management (JNSM).

Bhumip is an Associate Editor of the Computers & Electrical Engineering: An International Journal, a member of the Board of Editors of the JNSM, and an adjunct faculty member of Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

David Ko
Senior Vice-President, Zynga

David Ko leads Zynga's mobile business globally. In this role, Ko oversees all strategy, product development, business development and monetization activities for the business.

Prior to Zynga, Ko spent 10 years at Yahoo! where he was senior vice president of Yahoo!'s Audience, Mobile and Local businesses. As part of this role, he led all aspects from strategy to product of Yahoo!'s mobile business globally, and spearheaded the company's initiatives in the local space. Before joining the Equity Capital Markets group, he was a financial analyst for the Investment Banking Division in Global Energy. David graduated from New York University, Stern School of Business.

Christian Cadeo

Eric Wong

Eric recently joined Velti and heads the sales and business development for Velti's business in the Asia Pacific region.  Eric will spearhead the company's efforts to run campaigns with brands, advertising agencies, mobile operators and media companies using the company's platform.

Before joining Dell, Ian was Motorola's Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific, Mobile Devices. In this capacity, Ian shaped the enhancement of Motorola's brand and reputation across 17 markets, creating marketing programs acknowledged by the industry as some of the most innovative and effective in the region. Ian also guided the creation of MotoMusic.com, Motogames.com, and Motorola's acquisition of pan-Asian music service Soundbuzz.

In 2005, Ian's responsibilities grew at Motorola to cover more the Asian market. In his role as Corporate Vice President and General Manager for Mobile Devices Asia, he led the improvement of Motorola's sales and financial performance for the region, while spearheading its business strategy and product management for end-to-end solutions.

Ian's earlier career highlights include the setting up of Microsoft's Home and Entertainment Division's regional headquarters in Hong Kong in 2002. As the Brand & Channel Director for in the Asia-Pacific region, his portfolio grew to include formulating the group's strategy and organization design, and for recruiting a regional team to execute that strategy.
Ian relocated to Korea for three months to set up Microsoft's Games Division, where he created the strategy and plan that would see Microsoft building a library of localized content and the Xbox Live online gaming service, rolling out into four markets and establishing a foundation for Microsoft's growing global move into online games.

Abu Saeed Khan
Senior Policy Fellow, LIRNEasia

Abu joined the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) as its Secretary General on August 1, 2010.* Earlier he was a Strategy Analyst at Ericsson's Southeast Asia head office in Malaysia until June 2010. Previously, he was Technology Editor for bdnews24.com, Bangladesh's first online newspaper, as well as a research analyst at EMC World Cellular Database (currently owned by Informa) covering the mobile markets of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal.

As a journalist, Abu persuaded the government to join the SEA-ME-WE4 consortium in 2002, which has linked Bangladesh with its very first, and by far the only, submarine cable. At LIRNEasia, he conducted research into the replicability of a microfinance approach to extending rural connectivity in Bangladesh. He has also provided consultancy expertise in telecommunications to local and international organizations. He served on the faculty of regional regulatory training courses offered by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) between 2001 and 2004.

Stewart White is KPMG's Middle East & South Asia (MESA) Head of Telecoms since 2010.  He is involved in providing clients in the region with highly focused telecoms sector-specific advice to operators and investors from a regulatory, policy, public affairs and commercial perspective based on 30 years experience. He has experience working in more than 50 countries where he has also advised a number of governments on sector reform, drafting legislation to implement and establish regulatory authorities, drafting licences and interconnection agreements, particularly in the Middle East.

He has worked closely with a number of operators in the region and was one of the key players in Etisalat's successful bid and for and negotiation of the third mobile licence in Egypt. He has been one of the advisors of the Australian Government with regard to its $43bn next generation network project. From 1999 to 2005, he was the Group Public Policy Director of Vodafone Group, where he was described by its CEO, Sir Christopher Gent, as 'Vodafone's Foreign Minister', with responsibility for its public policy and affairs worldwide. He has had a long involvement with the International Telecommunication Union and has been an advisor to a number of Secretaries General, including Hamadoun Touré, particularly with regard to NGN and access issues and digital age issues, including IP interconnection. In June 2010 he was invited to be a keynote speaker at a closed Ministerial Roundtable hosted by the Singaporean regulator, iDA, on Government Strategies and Policies on providing ICT access to their Populace.

Hamadoun Touré
Secretary-General, International Telecommunication Union (ITU)

Dr Hamadoun Touré, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) since January 2007, was re-elected for a second term at the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference, Guadalajara, Mexico, in October 2010.

He served as Director of ITU's Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) from 1998 to 2006, and has wide professional experience in both the public and private sectors.

Born in 1953, Dr Touré holds a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications of Leningrad (LEIS, USSR) and Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) from the University of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics of Moscow (MTUCI, Russia).

He is committed to ITU as an innovative, forward-looking organization adapted to meeting the challenges created by the rapidly-changing ICT environment, and to continuing to spearhead the Union towards implementing the resolutions of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Dr Touré is married with four children and two granddaughters.

Alan Hadden
President, GSA

Alan Hadden has been President of GSA since formation in 1998. GSA represents GSM/EDGE/WCDMA-HSPA/HSPA+ and LTE suppliers, providing globally referenced reports, facts, and analysis explaining market developments and trends. GSA also organizes seminars and briefings to facilitate information sharing and dialog with its key audiences and communities.

Previously Alan was on the senior management team of a UK PCN/GSM 1800 operator involved in start-up, launch, and expansion phases. He assisted discussions with stakeholders and overseas regulators to establish 1800 MHz as a mainstream band for cellular and new mobile businesses. Previously Alan was Industrial Advisor to the UK communications regulator.

Alex Orange
Director, Government Affairs, UMTS Forum

 

Alex Orange is Director of Government Affairs for South East Asia and the Pacific at Qualcomm Incorporated. In this capacity, Mr. Orange directs Qualcomm's public policy and regulatory agenda and oversees its relationship with Government and regulatory agencies in the region. Mr. Orange works with Ministries, policy makers and independent regulators on national frequency allocation plans, licensing and regulations for 3G, mobile broadcasting and broadband wireless access systems. Alex also interfaces with multilateral organizations and governmental forums, for example the International Telecommunications Union and the Asia Pacific Telecommunity, to coordinate regional and international efforts in support of Qualcomm's next-generation wireless technologies.

Mr. Orange has previously gained 11 years experience working with the Ministry of Economic Development of New Zealand, where, as the Senior Planning Engineer he developed national spectrum management policies, plans, allocation methodologies, and licensing mechanisms that are considered industry best practice. Mr. Orange chaired the New Zealand Radio Sector that developed New Zealand's international position relative to radiocommunications and also participated in or led New Zealand government delegations to numerous bi-lateral, multi-lateral, and UN treaty level negotiations.

Majoring in physics at the University of Canterbury (NZ), Alex graduated in 1989. Before gaining his Master's degree in electronics from the University of Otago (NZ), Alex worked within the consumer electronics manufacturing industry in Hong Kong.

Mr. Orange, his wife and two daughters reside in Hong Kong.

Bosco Fernandes
Head of Corporate Research, European Research Centre, Huawei Technologies Co Ltd

Bosco Eduardo Fernandes has more than 20 years of experience in Telecommunications, Information Technology and Media Industries. He held many Managerial positions in R&D at Siemens Ag. He Lead a number of Research Projects in the European Commissions Research Programmes and contributed to standards.

Bosco Fernandes has Chaired many Task Forces in different areas and spoken at many International Conferences. He is the Chair of the ITU Telecom Program Committee. At Siemens he worked in the Government Public Affairs department before joining Nokia Siemens Networks.

In this last job he was responsible for Industry relations and worked in a number of Industry Fora including the UMTS Forum.He holds a degree of Dipl. Ing in Electronic engineering in Munich, Germany and an Executive MBA. He is a Senior member of the IEEE communications society and a member of the International Telecommunications Academy of Russia (ITA).

Declan Byrne Director of Marketing, WiMAX Forum

 

Declan Byrne joined the WiMAX Forum in 2010 as the director of marketing. Byrne brings 12 years of experience in the wireless industry and a strong background in marketing to the WiMAX Forum. Prior to joining the WiMAX Forum, Byrne worked for Airspan as Chief Marketing Officer. At Airspan Byrne was responsible for driving corporate strategy, strategic partnerships, business development, and traditional marketing and government relations. Prior to Airspan, he held senior executive positions at small and large corporations in the wireless industry including a position at AT&T with global responsibility for developing and managing international and domestic alliances.

Byrne also served as a US Diplomat abroad for the Foreign Service for more than 10 years. Byrne is a graduate of the University of San Francisco and is fluent in French, Russian, German and Spanish.

Don Bowman
Co Founder & Chief Technology Officer, Sandvine

Don is a co-founder and chief technology officer for Sandvine. Don is responsible for leading Sandvine's technical vision, including the strategic development, direction and future growth of Sandvine's products and solutions.
Before holding the position of CTO, Don served as vice president of consulting systems engineering and led Sandvine's development engineers and technical service consultants. Prior to Sandvine, Don was director of firmware and manager of software engineering for PixStream, responsible for system architecture. Don also held the position of Manager, Software Engineering for Cisco Systems in the Video Networking Business Unit.
As a leader in the technology community, Don has spoken at notable events such as Broadband World Forum Asia, SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, ISS and the Communications Futures Program at MIT.
In 2007, Don and his fellow co-founders were honoured with the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the technology category for their success and dedication to their work at Sandvine.
Originally from Ottawa, Don attended the University of Waterloo's bachelor of applied science program for systems design engineering. He currently resides in Waterloo with his wife.

Douglas Kok

He Jinchun
Principal Electrical Engineer, Base Station Antennas, CommScope

He Jinchun, received B.S. degree in electrical engineering from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, in 1996, and is studying in Nanjing University, China, for master degree in engineering project management.

He worked in CETC-10 (the 10th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation) from 1996-2001, and is currently working in CommScope, as a Principal Electrical Engineer, Wireless for base station antenna designs.

Hung Song
VP Global Marketing, Samsung Electronics

Dr. Song is currently vice president of the Global Marketing Group in Telecommunication Systems Division. In this capacity, he is responsible for worldwide marketing and business development of Samsung's Mobile WiMAX and Fixed Mobile Convergence solutions. He joined Samsung Electronics in 2000 and worked in strategic marketing, business development, and global business management roles for the fixed and mobile communications network systems division.

Dr. Song has more than 20 years of international management experience in telecommunications industry and has held a number of technical and marketing roles in telecommunications service and communications companies including U S WEST, Bellcore and AT&T Bell Laboratories. He is also an internationally renowned speaker in mobile WiMAX, mobile communication services, fixed mobile convergence, enterprise and home services and solutions.

Dr. Song holds a Doctorate in Computer Science, a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Jaikishan Rajaraman
Senior Director, Asia-Pacific, GSM Association

Jaikishan Rajaraman is Senior Services Director at the GSMA. His main responsibilities center on the development of inter-operable solutions for new services and technologies within the GSM world.

As Senior Director for Asia-Pacific, Mr Rajaraman currently drives GSMA services and technology strategy for the greater Asia-Pacific region, a role that he fulfills from his base in Singapore. He has more than 10 years' experience in mobile product development, strategy and management, specializing in roaming and inter-working solutions. His expertise spans both developed and developing markets in Asia and Europe.

Joelle Toledano
Member of the Executive Board, ARCEP (Autorité de régulation des communications électroniques et des postes)

Joëlle Toledano is, since 2005, Member of the Executive Board at ARCEP, the French National Regulatory Authority for electronic communications and postal affairs.

With a PhD in both Mathematics and Economics, she has had a dual career in academia and business. She has held has held various positions of responsibility within computing and telecommunications firms. She was the Executive Vice-president of Alcatel TITN from 1987 to 1989, and later the Managing Director of CCMC Human Resources. She was named Director of European and National Regulation at La Poste, the French Post Office in 2001.

She is also a professor at the Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité (Supélec).

Joseph O'Konek

Joseph O'Konek is the Chief Executive Officer of CSL Limited, the leading mobile operator in Hong Kong. He was previously Executive Vice President of 3S Network, Inc., a privately held wireless engineering firm based in Bellevue, WA. Prior to joining CSL, he led the prepaid and convergence billing software product line for Nokia Siemens Networks in Munich, Germany as Global Head of Business Support Systems and served as Global Practice Head for the Network Design and Service Management & Performance Consulting Practices for Nokia in 2005 in Espoo, Finland.

Masoud Bassiri
Chief Executive Officer, Consistel Pte Ltd

Masoud Bassiri serves as Board Chairman, Founder and CEO of Consistel, the wireless solution provider and system integrator for telecommunications industry. In 1996, he established Consistel's (former MSI) first presence in Singapore. Under Masoud's leadership, Consistel built an international presence spanning more than 12 countries and expanded its products and solutions.

His first step into telecommunications industry began in 1989 with Motorola and Nortel, where he delivered over 20 cellular networks to the network operators throughout Asia.
He also holds executive directorship in Singapore for Consistel and is a Fellow of IEEE, KPN, HKN and the American Chamber of Commerce.

Mats Nilson
SVP, Product Management, Shyam Networks

Mats Nilson has been part of mobile communications and GSM since the 80's, working for leading companies including Televerket/Telia, Swedish Telecom International, Radio Design and ABNW. He has worked in close cooperation with Omnitel Italy (Vodafone), Lucent and EMS Wireless.

He is also Assisting Director for the Center for Wireless R&D, Wireless@KTH at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, member of the National Radio Committee at the Royal Academy of Science, and Chairman of the Board for the Nordic Radio Society. Mats' significant contributions to GSM infrastructure are in technical management, R&D, system development, standardization and business development.

Maurie Dobbin

Maurie Dobbin is the Managing Director of TeleResources an Australian-based wireless strategy and solutions company.  Mr Dobbin has over forty years experience with the telecommunications industry in engineering, marketing and management positions.

Michael Higgins

Michael (Mick) Higgins joined Alcatel-Lucent in 2007 as the Lead for Product Management of the Multi-service Radio Access Division. Since then, he became more involved in driving the radio access network product management, until his current appointment in August 2010 to lead the Alcatel Lucent's wireless business across APAC. Olivier Beaujard
Vice President Market Development, Sierra Wireless SA

Olivier Beaujard, Group VP Market Development for Sierra Wireless has more that 16-year experience in the wireless industry and M2M market. Mr. Beaujard joined Sierra Wireless from Wavecom in early 1999 where he was in charge of Product Marketing; he did set-up the Marketing activity at Wavecom.

He then hold several marketing roles such as Marketing Director, Corporate Business Development Director, Vice President Marketing and Vice-President of Business Development.
Prior to joining Sierra Wireless, Mr. Beaujard had an international Sales experience in the value added services platforms for telecommunications networks at FERMA.

Rajiv Mehrotra
Founder, Chairman & CEO, VNL

Rajiv Mehrotra is the Founder and Chairman of the Shyam Group of companies. The group has interests in a wide range of successful telecom ventures. In 1974, Rajiv pioneered the manufacture of satellite TV equipment for millions of village homes in India. He then took telecom to the masses by installing wireless telephones in over 100,000 Indian villages. He went on to launch Shyam Telecom, a leading name worldwide for mobile coverage solutions.

Mr. Mehrotra is also the founder of Shyam Telelink Limited (now Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd.), one of the first operators to deploy CDMA technology for fixed wireless services. His efforts established Essel Shyam as the leading name in VSAT services in India. Rajiv founded VNL (Vihaan Networks Ltd.) to connect the billions of unconnected across the world.

Ronny Haraldsvik
Vice President of Global Marketing, Bytemobile

Ronny Haraldsvik is responsible for worldwide marketing strategy and operations at Bytemobile. He joined the company in 2010, with over 20 years of telecommunications industry experience, including wireless broadband, IP services, software, personal computing, and consumer devices.

Prior to Bytemobile, Haraldsvik spent more than 10 years as vice president of Marketing at a succession of wireless and IP networking companies focused on infrastructure technology for mobile network operators. Stephen Hire

Stuart Sharrock

Dr Stuart Sharrock has been an analyst and consultant in the telecommunications industry for the past three decades. He holds a BSc in Natural Philosophy from Edinburgh University and a PhD in Nuclear Physics from University College London and has conducted research in nuclear physics in the Soviet Union, Switzerland, the UK and the USA.

Stuart has been the Editor of Telecommunications International, Mobile Communications International, and Voice+ magazines and the European Correspondent for RCR Wireless News. Takehiro Nakamura
Director, NTT Docomo, Inc.

Takehiro Nakamura joined NTT Laboratories in 1990. In 1992, he transferred to NTT DOCOMO, Inc. He is now Director of the Radio Access Network Development Department of NTT DOCOMO, Inc.
He has been engaged in the W-CDMA standardization activity at ARIB in Japan since 1997 and he is currently the leader of the IMT-Partnership Group in ARIB since March 2006.

He has been contributing to standardization activities in 3GPP since1999. He had contributed to 3GPP TSG-RAN as a vice chairman during March 2005 to March 2009. He is currently a chairman of 3GPP TSG-RAN since April 2009.

Xu Guanghan
Chief Scientist, Beijing Xinwei Telecom Technology, Inc.

Guanghan Xu received his PhD in electrical engineering from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, in 1991.

In 1992, he joined the faculty of Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin and was later promoted to Tenured Associate Professor. He co-founded Beijing Xinwei Telecom Technology, Inc. in 1995. In 2000, he co-founded Navini Networks, which was later acquired by Cisco. Since then, he has been serving as Chief Scientist for Beijing Xinwei Telecom Technology, Inc. He has published about 40 journal papers, 18 patents, and hundreds of conference papers.

Dr. Xu is recipient of 1995 NSF CAREER Award and 1996 IEEE Trans. on Signal Processing Young Author Best Paper Award.  He was recipient of the First Class Award and Second Class Award of Science and Technology Advancement granted by Chinese State Department. In 2003, he was granted Asian American Engineer Award by Chinese Institute of Engineers. In 2008, he was elected IEEE Fellow.

Yune Marketatmo
Division Head of Network Resource and Strategic Planning, PT Indosat

Yune is Division Head of Network Resource and Strategic Planning, responsible for assessing new technologies, network roadmap development, frequency spectrum and RF planning, covering more than 15,000 base stations across a number of technologies including 3G HSPA, 2G, and CDMA.

His recent achievements at Indosat include leader of network planning and implementation of the first 3G HSDPA 3.6Mbps; HSPA 42Mbps and low cost 2G network expansion in remote areas in Indonesia.

Rohit Dadwal
Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Mobile Marketing Association

Rohit Dadwal is Managing Director (MD) for the Mobile Marketing Association's Asia Pacific (APAC) branch, running the regional headquarters in Singapore. He joined the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) in November 2008, having spent 8 years at Microsoft and participated in MMA activity as a board member. In his role as MD, Rohit will work to build a sustainable ecosystem for the mobile marketing industry in the APAC region, promoting the MMA as the leading association for region-wide consultation on key industry issues such as measurement and metrics, mobile advertising guidelines, codes of conduct and consumer best practices.

Rohit brings a wealth of industry experience to the MMA, with over 10 years spent working in the Internet and telecommunications industries, including the design and delivery of some of the early ISP services. He has spent the last 7 years working on mobile value added services, user experience and wireless technologies and has been instrumental in launching new products and services across the Asian and international markets.

Rohit has also worked for Bharti-British Telecom ISP services - India, and with IPSIl, an affiliate of VSNL – the largest internet service provider in India. He has travelled widely across Asia, visiting communication service providers, attending and speaking at conferences, and speaking to the media.

Emmanuel Allix
Founder and Managing Director, Isalis Asia

Emmanuel Allix, is the founder and Managing Partner of Isalis Asia, a boutique consulting firm specialized in developing mobile technology and advertising businesses in Asia Pacific. Prior to launching Isalis Asia, he was Vice President and Managing Director at InMobi where he oversaw all business functions in the Asia Pacific region.

He also led business and operations at Pudding Media a full service Mobile Advertising solutions provider, worked for GroupM Interaction (a WPP media investment company) where he served as Regional Mobile Director and prior to joining GroupM, and overall spent over 15 years in the IT and Internet arenas across Asia and Europe including at Singapore Airlines.  In the mid-90ies while living in France he founded one of the first Internet website development start-ups where his firm created and launched websites and other online activities for major French companies.   He has also led e-Commerce initiatives at KPMG Consulting France.
Emmanuel is a regular speaker at various events including iMedia, CommunicAsia, MMA Forum, Media360, AdTech, IMMAP and MMC.

Emmanuel was an active and engaged board member in the 2008 APAC MMA Board and has been involved in the MMA Measurement Committee over the past year. He has rejoined the 2011 MMA APAC board and hopes, as MMA APAC Vice-Chairman to continue to lead and drive efforts in the creation of a mobile advertising currency.

Dilip Mistry
Head Mobile Advertising, Asia Pacific, Microsoft

Dilip Mistry is a Senior Director in Microsoft Advertising Publishing Solutions Group, accountable for building the company's mobile, local and commerce advertising business in Asia.

Prior to this role, he was an online business leader in Asia executing marketing strategies to grow the audience for online & mobile consumer services, drive user engagement with these services in a newly formed field organization, Consumer & Online (C&O).

Prior to joining C&O, Dilip had an extensive career in Microsoft commercial software business in multiple management, business development, sales, marketing in subsidiary, regional and corporate roles based in Asia, Europe, Middle East and US. Throughout his extensive career he has managed multi-million dollar marketing budgets to execute local and multinational marketing campaigns.

Dilip holds a MBA from the University Of Chicago School Of Business and is a global board member for Mobile Marketing Association (MMA).

Brian Tan is the Technical Consultant for Sourcefire at ASEAN. Brian has more than 10 years of professional experience in the security and network industry. Prior to Sourcefire, Brian had served as the Technical Consultant for RSA Security (acquired by EMC) and Senior Technical Consultant for Imperva, responsible for providing technical assistance during the sales cycles for customers throughout ASEAN.

Throughout his career, Brian was involved with many clients on their security architecture, including areas such as perimeter security, two-factor authentication, web application security and database security and monitoring. He currently holds the CISSP and GCIH certifications.

Jonathan Tan
Managing Director, ASEAN, Palo Alto Networks

Jonathan Tan is Managing Director of ASEAN at Palo Alto Networks. He received a B.S. Degree in Information Technology from University of Dublin, Ireland. Jonathan has been in the IT industry for more than 20 years and has held several management positions in Sales and Channels. His international experience in Asia Pacific includes building the business in Indonesia, Vietnam and emerging market in SAARC region exclude India when he was in HP Software Division and prior to Palo Alto Networks, he was from F5 Networks where he heads up the channels in Asia Pacific.

Mike Ang
Regional Director, MailChannels

Mike Ang is the Immediate Past President of The Association of the Telecommunications Industry of Singapore (ATiS), and Managing Director of Stream Networks, a consulting, network and middleware integration services company. His company is now focussing on providing consulting services and solutions to ISPs and mobile phone operators. He has 33 years of experience in the IT, semiconductor and Telecom markets, with his last 20 years in the Asia Pacific region as VP Asia Pacific for a number of companies. He was with large companies like Fujitsu Microelectronics Asia, EDS, Alcatel, and start-ups like Xylan, Top Layer and Aventail.

He had spoken in conferences like Asia Telecom in Pune, India, Asia Telecom Industry Exchange in Taiwan, and on Next Generation Broadband Networks in Singapore, in 2010.

Vice President, Marketing, Verimatrix

Steve Christian has a wealth of experience in digital media and Internet technology and is a frequent speaker on at global industry events. At Verimatrix, he is responsible for product strategy, marketing programs and management of brand equity. Prior to joining Verimatrix, Christian was VP Marketing at streaming media specialist Nine Systems and also ran his own "virtual VP" technology marketing consultancy.

His background includes product and services management at Wind River, ST Microelectronics and Raytheon. Christian has a 1st class degree in Physics from the University of Bristol and an MBA from the Open University in the UK.

Naveen Bhat
Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific, Ixia

Naveen is vice president and general manager of IXIA, Asia Pacific. He is responsible for managing regional sales, support and business development for all Ixia products in Asia Pacific.

Based in Singapore, Naveen has more than 15 years of experience in telecom and technology sectors. He has led several companies in growing their Asia Pacific business. He was a key player in delivering one of the largest OSS systems in the world in India.

He has been an active participant in the TeleManagement Forum (TMF), working with various service providers on eTOM and NGOSS implementations.

Prior to Ixia, Naveen was the Vice President and GM for Agilent, running their communications business in Asia Pacific. Between 2000 and 2005, Naveen was director of Lucent Technologies' OSS business in Asia-Pacific. He worked extensively with service providers in the region, covering wireline, wireless and data technologies.

Before Lucent, Naveen spent 15 years in the United States working for Texaco and Pavilion Technologies. As director of Asia-Pacific, he was responsible for starting the Asia-Pacific division of Pavilion and establishing and running a branch office in Japan, with a network of partners across Korea, Taiwan, China, India and Singapore.

Naveen received his Ph.D. in engineering from the University of Maryland and has been an adjunct faculty member at the Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
