In this year’s CommunicAsia, several companies will be participating for the first time to showcase their latest offerings as well as upcoming products and services for the region and around the world. Notable first timers making their CommunicAsia debuts are Navteq, Sandisk, SK Telesys, local player Sirius Multimedia (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jurong Technologies), TeleAtlas and Yahoo!. V isitors will also see the biggest ever Singapore Pavilion at CommunicAsia, which takes up 1,700 square metres. The Singapore Pavilion will also be the biggest pavilion at the show.

With the media industry booming in Singapore, the Singapore Pavilion at BroadcastAsia will also be the largest ever, at 1,200 square metres of exhibition space. Led by the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA), more than 35 Singapore-based digital technology and media companies will be showcasing their latest products and applications. Visitors can view specialty Interactive Digital Media exhibits and the latest Protocol TV, Mobile TV and High-definition TV technologies, applications and services.

A highlight at this year’s BroadcastAsia is the updated HD Xperience which will explain how Media Asset Management (MAM) technology can be leveraged to help broadcasters transform their workflows and benefit more from open standards based production and archiving. Another highlight is NHK, who will be showing for the first time in Asia outside of Japan its Super Hi-vision (SHV) system. The system, which offers resolution 16 times higher than regular H DTV, comes with 7680 x 4320 pixels and a 3-D audio system with 24 speakers. At BroadcastAsia2008, visitors can witness first hand at the SHV theatre, just how life-like this screen can be.

“Today’s information, communications and media technologies and business landscape are changing at an exponential rate; each year brings new products, services and devices that we could have hardly imagined just a few years ago. The pace of the industry can be so overwhelming and hard to keep updated on, even for seasoned industry professionals.” said Mr Stephen Tan, Chief Executive of Singapore Exhibition Services. “For this reason, CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia have become increasingly relevant and important, serving as key platforms for the industry to meet, network and get a hands-on experience for what is on the cutting edge, and what to look out for in their related technological spheres.”
