CommunicAsia2017 Show Review

CommunicAsia2017 returned bigger and more focused than before. The show was held across 4 levels of Marina Bay Sands from 23 – 25 May 2017 and focused on key technologies such as Borderless Broadband, Cloud & Big Data, Connect Everywhere, Enterprise Mobility, IoT, SatComm, Security & Cyber-Security and Smart Cities. The 28th edition was well-attended by ICT professionals and continued to surpass expectations of those who visited the show.

BroadcastAsia, held concurrently at Suntec Singapore, occupied a total of 20,000sqm spanning across three levels. Together, both shows welcomed 40,000 attendees as they experienced the complete ecosystem of Digital Media and ICT, and the convergence of both industries.

At Marina Bay Sands, Basement 2 bustled with activities at the various country pavilions and feature areas such as DigiMarketing Lab, Taiwan Excellence Award Showcase and Xperience Zone. The largest-ever satellite contingent occupied the SatComm area at Level 1, while NXT at Level 5 focused on Smart City technologies and start-ups at Disrupt+.

The innovative solutions showcased allowed visitors to have an encompassing experience of the various developments within the ICT industry and beyond. Designated presentation areas such as the IoT Theatre and Xperience Zone allowed visitors to interact with exhibitors who shared their product offerings and helped buyers to better evaluate them for their respective businesses.

Jointly organised by the Philippines Department of Information Communications and Technology (DICT), Philippines Connect was packed with 234 attendees.

The exhibition welcomed 18,228 visitors from 89 countries / regions, with almost 30 overseas buyer group delegations from India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

CommunicAsia2017 Summit concluded with a 3-day programme packed with power networking sessions, comprehensive thought leadership sharing with experts, peers and industry insights.

Asia’s most coveted ICT innovation event themed ‘Connecting the Future Now, saw close to 800 industry leaders from across the globe and typically APAC congregated to hear from a stellar line-up of 180 speakers. Joint presentations, panel discussions, case studies and live demonstrations delivered practical insights on ICT convergence, the dawn of IoT, cyber-security and artificial intelligence innovation and how it is changing businesses across the value chain and ecosystem in today’s competitive landscape.

The conference covered 15 dedicated tracks of which 5 were new and some of the key tracks were expanded into 2-day track sessions.

Track conferences ran across parallel sessions with endless networking and discussions, interactive exchange of thoughts and ideas and business dealings. The Summit ended with strong support and positive reviews from participants’ about their insightful takeaways. Speakers and delegates also expressed their hopes and anticipation on what they would like to see and learn from our rebranded ConnecTechAsia show next year.
